52nd Voluntary Blood Donation Drive at LHU: Every Drop Counts

    April 25, 2025

Over 500 faculty members and students from Lac Hong University (LHU) joined the university’s 52nd Voluntary Blood Donation Drive, contributing 340 units of blood to support patients in urgent need of transfusions.

Joining Hands to Sustain Life – Every Drop, a Chance for Hope

Held on April 25 at LHU Campus 3, the 52nd edition of the Voluntary Blood Donation Drive was jointly organized by the university’s Youth Union and Student Association, in collaboration with the Red Cross Society of Dong Nai Province, the Blood Transfusion Center of Cho Ray Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City), and C.P. Vietnam Corporation.

With the heartfelt message, "A drop of blood given – A life saved", this year’s event was part of a series of meaningful initiatives commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Reunification of Vietnam (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025). The event drew more than 500 registered donors and successfully collected 340 units of blood—evidence of the university community’s strong sense of social responsibility, compassion, and civic engagement.

    Sustainable Development Goals

This initiative stands as a testament to LHU’s continued contributions toward achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:

    1. SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: Through collaboration between the university, healthcare institutions, businesses, and social organizations.

    2. SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being: By providing critical blood resources to patients in need.

    3. SDG 4 – Quality Education: By fostering empathy and civic responsibility among students through experiential learning.

    4. SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities: As the donated blood is distributed without discrimination, reaching diverse groups in vulnerable conditions.

LHU was honored to receive official commendations from the Vietnam Red Cross Central Committee and the People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province for outstanding achievements in promoting voluntary blood donations in both 2023 and 2024.

    Sustaining a Culture of Compassion

This long-standing humanitarian tradition reaffirms LHU’s mission of “serving the community” and its commitment to cultivating a generation of students who are not only academically competent but also socially conscious. The spirit of volunteerism remains a cornerstone of the university’s identity.

“Donating blood is the simplest way to give life—and LHU students are doing it wholeheartedly.”
