Vu Ngoc Khanh and Nguyen Ngoc Kieu Trang win 10th Korean Speech Contest 2024

On the morning of November 23, 2024, the Department of Korean Studies under the Faculty of Oriental Studies, LHU successfully held the final round of the Korean Speech Contest 2024. This is the 10th time the Department has organized the Contest, aiming to create an academic playground for students majoring in Korean Studies to improve their language skills, especially speaking and presentation, learn about Korean culture, country and people; also highlighting the Vietnam-Korea friendship on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of Vietnam - Korea diplomatic ties.

Attendees of the event were Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Lan - Vice Rector; Dr. Nguyen Huu Nghi - Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies; MA. Do Thi Thuy - Head of the Department of Korean Studies; along with experienced lecturers and Korean experts as the Board of Judges; finalists and many students majoring in Korean Studies.

This year's finale gathered 14 excellent contestants from the 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 cohorts. At the final round, all the contestants experienced two parts: speech and Q&A session. Notably, this year's speech topics were incredibly diverse and rich, ranging from familiar aspects such as Korean culture and cuisine to current issues like artificial intelligence (AI), as well as heartfelt insights into students' future orientation. The careful preparation and rich contents of the contestants created a vibrant and inspiring competitive atmosphere.

At the end of the competition, the judging panel selected the best contestants to honor and award prizes. The First prize (Elementary level) went to contestant Vu Ngoc Khanh from class 23DH112 while the First prize (Intermediate level) was warded to contestant Nguyen Ngoc Kieu Trang from class 22DH112. 

The 10th Korean Speech Contest is a platform for students not only to hone their language skills, but also to explore and improve themselves. The success of this year's contest once again affirms the Department of Korean Studies' efforts in creating an effective and engaging learning environment.
