Bridging education and Japanese businesses: Greater opportunities for LHU students

On the morning of August 5, 2025, at the headquarters of the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee, provincial leaders welcomed and held talks with a delegation from Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, led by Vice Governor Hattori Yohei. The meeting was also attended by representatives from provincial departments, universities, and local businesses. Taking place in an atmosphere of openness and cooperation, the discussion raised expectations for a stronger wave of Japanese investment in Dong Nai, especially as Japan is currently the province’s third-largest investor.

Among the invited delegates, LHU, one of the province’s leading educational institutions, was honored to give a speech. Representing the local education sector, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Vu Quynh, Vice Rector, delivered a brief yet impactful address highlighting the University’s academic achievements and its strong ties with Japanese enterprises.

LHU has earned its reputation as a “preferred destination” for Japanese employers. With nearly three decades of solid experience in Japanese language education and various technology-engineering majors, it has been a pioneer in implementing training programs such as Bilingual Vietnamese-Japanese, Vietnamese-Japanese Engineer (6 programs including Information Technology; Mechanical Engineering Technology; Electrical–Electronic Engineering Technology; Control and Automation Engineering Technology; Automotive Engineering Technology; and Food Technology). The integration of professional knowledge with language competency equips students to confidently enter the global labor market.

Nearly 100 students intern in Japan each year – a telling figure

A remarkable highlight shared by LHU at the event was the impressive number of nearly 100 students sent to Japan annually for internships. These internships provide students with the opportunities to practice technical skills, experience a professional working environment, gain real-world experience, and enhance their competitiveness after graduation.

Japanese businesses consistently praise LHU students for their discipline, diligence, and eagerness to learn. Notably, many are offered full-time positions while still in their internship period – a clear testament to the alignment between the University’s training outcomes and real-world industry demands.

Education aligned with practical needs

More than just an academic institution, LHU serves as a bridge connecting high-quality human resources with Japanese employers. The University is an active member of the Coordination Committee connecting Japanese businesses, universities, and local suppliers. Each year, LHU organizes a range of activities such as the Japan Job Fair, career seminars, and training sessions on 5S and Occupational Safety – all of which are vital standards in Japanese workplaces. The combination of theory, practical experience, and soft skills has made LHU students "ideal candidates" in the eyes of employers.

Alongside promoting international cooperation, LHU has also nurtured technological talents, boasting an impressive record of achievements: 10 consecutive championships at the Vietnam Robot Innovation Contest, 3 Asia-Pacific Robocon titles, and 5 consecutive years leading the Shell Eco–marathon Asia. These achievements are a testament to the University’s quality of technical education, innovative mindset, and teamwork skills - all of which are essential in the Japanese corporate environment that highly values precision and a spirit of collaboration.

The visit by the Hyogo delegation is not only a diplomatic event but also paves the way for long-term cooperation between Dong Nai and Japan, between universities and businesses, and between students and their future careers.

With strong support from the provincial government, organizations such as JICA, and the proactive efforts of universities like LHU, students in Dong Nai now have more opportunities than ever to develop themselves. They can connect with the world without ever leaving their homeland.

The future belongs to those who are ready

We are always ready to connect with Japanese businesses to help you find the best talents”, shared Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vu Quynh at the meeting. His message not only reflects the University’s spirit of collaboration but also affirms its determination to elevate Vietnamese education on the path of global integration.

From classrooms to factories, from lectures to production lines, LHU students are consistently demonstrating their competence, professionalism, and dedication, thereby shaping a generation of engineers and graduates who are both technically proficient and well-prepared for global integration.
