    June 25, 2025

A COMMITMENT TO COMPASSION AND SUSTAINABILITY

On June 25, 2025, Lac Hong University (LHU) organized a meaningful community engagement event to deliver essential gifts and second-quarter financial support to 20 victims of Agent Orange/dioxin in Bien Hoa City. This initiative reflects not only the university’s deep-rooted social responsibility but also its commitment to cultivating humanistic values and ethical education among students.

Mr. Do Khoi Nguyen, Vice Rector of LHU represents to provide allowances and gifts to Agent Orange/Dioxin victims in the local community.

    Sharing Pain, Igniting Hope

Led by Vice Rector Mr. Do Khoi Nguyen, LHU’s delegation visited and personally handed over care packages and quarterly stipends to 20 individuals suffering from the long-term effects of Agent Orange/dioxin. More than just material assistance, the gesture carried heartfelt words of encouragement, kind smiles, and genuine empathy—an expression of gratitude from the university's staff, faculty, and students.

These small but powerful acts aimed to ease the physical and emotional pain borne by the victims, whose lives have been deeply impacted by the consequences of war. The event stands as a living embodiment of LHU’s enduring commitment to compassionate education, community partnership, and sustainable development.

Sustainable Impact Rooted in the Heart of LHU

This outreach activity is a core part of LHU’s ongoing volunteer programme, reaffirming the university’s proactive role in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the higher education sector. Specifically, the initiative contributes significantly to several key SDGs:

    1. SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals:

By collaborating with local authorities and social organizations to support Agent Orange victims, LHU enhances multi-stakeholder partnerships aimed at solving pressing social issues through education and coordinated community action.

    2. SDG 1 – No Poverty:

The provision of direct financial assistance and material support addresses the basic needs of vulnerable individuals, alleviating economic hardships and promoting equitable living conditions.

    3. SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being:

Emotional support and health-related gifts contribute to the mental and physical well-being of recipients, addressing health disparities experienced by those suffering from toxic war legacies.

    4. SDG 4 – Quality Education:

By involving students in real-world service-learning experiences, the programme instills civic responsibility, empathy, and moral reasoning, thereby integrating values-based education into LHU’s academic environment.

This initiative forms a key component of Lac Hong University’s sustainable development strategy, designed to amplify social impact and cultivate a university culture of compassion-driven learning.

Inspiring the Future Through Small Acts of Kindness

What began as a small-scale act of giving has evolved into a meaningful lesson in empathy, compassion, and social responsibility—values that LHU continues to embed into every generation of its students.

By nurturing emotional intelligence and moral consciousness, the university aims to inspire youth to carry forward the torch of sustainable change, contributing to a more inclusive and resilient society.

“From the hands that give to the hearts that receive, every act of kindness plants the seeds of hope.”
